How to Prepare Your Yard or Site for Porta Potty Delivery

A smooth porta potty delivery takes five minutes of prep. Use this checklist the day before your Rowlett delivery so the driver can place the unit without calling you.
Where is the best spot for a porta potty?
The best spot is firm, level ground within about 15 feet of where the truck can park, at least 10 feet from windows and AC units, and out of low areas where rain collects. Driveways, concrete pads and flat side yards are ideal.
Delivery-day checklist
Seven steps cover nearly every delivery. Do them the day before so nobody needs to be home when the truck arrives.
- Mark the spot with a cone, stake or ribbon.
- Check the ground is level; on soft clay, lay a sheet of plywood.
- Measure the gate — a standard unit is about 44 inches wide.
- Clear the path: cars, trash bins, hoses, low branches.
- Look up for low wires over the drive.
- Add gate codes and pet notes to your order.
- Give a second phone number for the driver.
What about Rowlett's clay soil?
Rowlett sits on blackland prairie clay that swells and gets slick after rain. A unit set on wet clay can sink on one side and lean. Set the unit on the driveway or on plywood, and avoid the low edge of the yard after storms.
Do I need to be home?
No. If the spot is marked and the path is clear, the driver places the unit and texts a photo. Pets should be inside, and gates should be unlocked or coded.

Related questions
Where should I put the porta potty?
Place the unit on firm, level ground within about 15 feet of where our truck can park. Driveways, concrete pads and flat grass work. Keep it away from windows and AC intakes, and out of low spots that collect rain.
Can you put it in my backyard?
Yes, if the path is clear and the gate is wide enough. A standard unit is about 44 inches wide, so a normal 4-foot gate works. The truck must still reach the unit with its service hose, so a far backyard may need a closer spot.
Can it sit on grass or dirt?
Yes. On soft ground, especially Rowlett's clay soil after rain, the unit can sink or lean. A sheet of plywood or a pallet under the unit keeps it level.
Do I need to be home for the delivery?
No. Mark the spot with a cone, stake or ribbon, leave gate codes in your order notes, and keep the path clear. The driver places the unit and can text a photo of the placement.
